I Have a Dream

Over two nights in March 2012, we launched the Dream Foundation with a show, I Have a Dream, at the Arts Depot in London.  Inspired by Dr Martin Luther King’s speech. The show involved our professional dance company and included dance, music and visual arts (see photos and videos here)

This year, to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr King’s speech, the I Have a Dream programme will launch and engage 1000 of the most disadvantaged young people in London and Hertfordshire, and taking a group through a pathway of dance and performing arts training, mentoring, education and employment opportunities. The young people involved will work alongside our professional dance company and perform in an I Have a Dream Production at a leading venue. We plan to expand the programme accross other cities in the UK.

‘I Have a Dream’ ultimately aims to inspire and empower our youth generation, celebrate diversity, challenging the negative images of young people and demonstrate, through the arts, how talented young people are making a positive difference.

"Zoe created an insight into our future as a nation, using the talent of the present and taking inspiration from the past. 'I Have A Dream' is only the beginning."Kane Ricca, [Control.] London Ltd

"The show was produced by Zoe Jackson, founder of Living the Dream.  She is a visionary, a young entrepreneur, a woman on purpose.  We need more Zoe’s in the artistic industry. Not only was I deeply touched by the underlying message of each piece but I was also incredibly moved by the company’s aura.  The show was inspiring, the dance was meaningful and the message was strong.  The words of Martin Luther King keep resonating in my mind.  A night of positivity, inspiration and... dancing dreams!" Cindy Claes, Spread Expression

“I was totally amazed from start to finish. The talent of the young people who performed went way beyond my expectations and I was totally spellbound!! Zoe, you are an inspiration and you have such passion and commitment to your cause and would not hesitate in attending other performances.” Nikki Perkins, Ultimate Promotions Ltd

"Zoe Jackson certainly knows how to deliver... For me, the experience of watching modern dance is often more about the physicality and movement than it is about the meaning behind the piece. But this was one of those few times when both elements came into play and I left the show thinking, Wow. That was off the hook...
Living The Dream is a dance show that tells the story of breaking down the barriers that hold us back in life. The show is staged, acted and danced superbly well. At the start of the show the electrifying video scene of the famous Martin Luther King speech set up the story with his voice rumbling over a dramatic beat. It lead into a brilliant pictorial image of the fight for independence and freedom as troupe's members began breaking out precession routines which brought the story to life.
Most of the scenes screamed teamwork, from the high-energy unison moves to the group lifts and catches. The choreography was superb throughout, the show and Zoe’s professionalism and bouncy personality was evident from start to finish, she and her teams had a sure sense of what their audience wanted!"
